Older horses' ration should be between 70% and 100% of the feed. It is therefore important that older horses with dental problems have a high-fiber feed for as long as possible.
Fiber-rich feeds are also important for stimulating the production of saliva during chewing. Chaff is chewed at least twice as long as concentrated feed, so more saliva is produced. Saliva prevents esophageal problems and neutralizes excess stomach acid due to its high acid buffering sodium carbonate content.
Star Complete Care Senior is an ideal feed substitute due to its fine structure. The compound feed contains all the essential vitamins, minerals and trace elements an older horse needs, and contains a wide range of fibers from artificially dried grass, alfalfa, green barley straw and beet pulp. Many older horses have dental problems which reduces their chewing ability. As a result, they eat hay and pre-dried silage worse. 5 Star Complete Care Senior is an ideal feed substitute due to its fine structure.
Unique to 5 Star Complete Care is the herbal tincture with bacteria of the genus Althaea (Althaea officinalis), ginger (Zingiber), Swamp spurea (Filipendula ulmaria), hawthorn (Crataegus), horsetail (Equisetum), Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus), Guldenroede Virgaurea) and Bacopa monnier (Alzheimer's or Brahmi plant). This unique combination has a positive effect on connective tissue and also helps regulate the hormonal balance.
Nutritional Tips:
As a complete feed: 1 - 1.3 kg 5 Star Complete Care per 100 kg b.w. daily
As an addition, 300g - 500g 5 Star Complete Care per 100 kg b.w. daily, added to 1-1.5 kg of feed per 100 kg b.w.
Horses that eat greedily or are sensitive to esophageal congestion can be offered 5 Complete Care in slow feeding (feed net) with a fine mesh max. 3cm
